Big Head Morrison July 20, 2013 - September 20, 2025

Winston "Big Head" Morrison came into our lives unexpectedly and needed a home. We were not sure we were ready having lost our first dog 8 months prior, but as these things go, he needed us and we needed him. Big Head was literally my saving grace during a longtime battle with addiction. He never left my side, was with me during the worst of it and saw me thru really hard life changes without judgement, without criticism and with nothing but loyalty and love. When you have a relationship with an animal this way, it is truly hard to really put it into words. He was my strength and comfort when I so weak and scared, my reason to stay to see the next day, He understood me more than any human in my life. To watch him get old and frail and suffering and knowing I couldnt save him the way he saved me was beyond heartbreaking. But we knew it was his time and the selfish part of me did not want to let him go. But he reassured me in his own quiet way that he had served his purpose in my life and his job here was done. I had never had to have any animal put to sleep before so I was praying he would go in his sleep on his own but it wasnt meant to be that way and we made the decision to call Bethany and she exceeded expectations of this first time experience. She was patient and gave us as much time as we needed and she was respectful of the deep grief that comes with losing a pet. She explained everything as she went along and was nothing but kind and considerate. No one wants to say goodbye but it is the choice we have to make for them as the humans who love them and I am so relieved and at peace with choosing her to carry it out. I wish the world had more people like Dr. Bethany because it takes a certain demeanor to handle these things and she couldn't be more appreciated.
